At Soul’s Harbor of Joplin, we believe that consistent access to nutritious food is the first step toward stability and hope. No one should have to worry about where their next meal is coming from, which is why we offer two distinct programs to combat food insecurity in our city: our Daily Community Meals and our Food Pantry. Whether you are currently without a home or simply struggling to make ends meet, our kitchen and pantry are here for you.
Daily Community Meals
Our kitchen serves as the heart of our mission, providing hot, balanced meals 365 days a year. These meals are open to our shelter residents in need of a meal and a supportive environment.
- Breakfast: Served daily at 7:00 AM. A warm start to the day for anyone in the community.
- Dinner: Served daily at 5:00 PM. A complete evening meal designed to provide nutrition and fellowship.
- What to Expect: Our meals are served in a respectful, Christ-centered atmosphere. We focus on providing protein, vegetables, and grains to ensure our guests receive the energy they need.
How to Support: You can keep our kitchen running by donating bulk ingredients (large #10 cans), fresh produce, or meats. Financial gifts also allow us to purchase milk, eggs, and fresh items that we cannot always stock through donations.
The Soul’s Harbor Food Pantry
For individuals and families who have housing but are facing a “gap” in their monthly budget, our Food Pantry provides essential groceries to take home. We serve low-income families, seniors, veterans, and anyone in the Four-State area experiencing a temporary crisis.
- Pantry Hours: Open Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
- What We Provide: We offer “Food Baskets” tailored to the size of the household. These typically include shelf-stable items like pasta, rice, canned vegetables, and canned proteins (tuna/chicken), as well as bread and frozen meat when available.
- Emergency Assistance: If you find yourself in an immediate crisis outside of regular hours, please contact our main office to see how we can assist with emergency supplies.
How to Support: Our pantry shelves often run low during times of high demand. You can help by hosting a food drive or dropping off non-perishable items like peanut butter, ramen, canned soups, and cereal at our 817 S. Main St. office during business hours.
